If you like the “four sides of letters” word-chain mechanic and you’re looking for something you can play without a subscription, LetterBorder is a fast, web-first alternative with a daily puzzle plus unlimited practice.

Important: LetterBorder is an independent word puzzle game. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to The New York Times or their Letter Boxed puzzle.

What “unlimited” really means here

You can play the daily board each day, then keep going in Practice Mode as long as you want. Practice boards are generated to be solvable, and they don’t affect your streak.

  • Daily puzzle: one board per day
  • Unlimited practice: generate as many boards as you want
  • Archive: replay recent boards when you want to binge
  • Shareable results: share without spoiling the board for others

Quick rules summary

Make a chain of words using the letters around the square. You can’t take two consecutive letters from the same side, and the last letter of each word must become the first letter of the next. Your goal is to cover all 12 letters at least once.
